EGYPT 2022

In June of 2022, join teachers in a Cultural Immersion Trip to Egypt and visit some of the world’s most breathtaking ancient sights. Learn the Egyptian culture as you listen to Egyptian music, eat Egyptian food, hear and learn to speak their language! We also sail the Nile on our way to visit a Nubian School in Aswan. Aswan is the city of charm and beauty and that is due to the beauty of the Nile and the kindness of its people. In Egypt, we’ll learn much from our Egyptian colleagues what culturally responsive teaching and learning looks like in Egypt!
Our trip includes a 4 day, 3 night Luxury boat cruise on the infamous and ancient Nile River from Aswan to Luxor. As we sail to Luxor, we will disembark at several locations, including UNESCO World Heritage sites and the Kom Ombo Temple, the Edfu Temple, the Crocodile Mummy Museum, Luxor Temple, and the Philae Temple (Taina’s favorite), a beautiful temple built on an island for the Goddess Isis. Towards the end of the trip, we’ll be back in Cairo visiting the brand new large Egyptian Museum (opened in 2021) and go shopping at one of Cairo’s main attractions, the Khan Khalili Bazaar.
The trip’s informal theme is “fewer things, better.” Your leaders are Angela Watson, Taina Benitez and Patrice Brown. You’ll get a copy of Angela Watson's newest book by that same title. The principles will be woven into our entire approach for the trip. Our vibe will be lingering rather than rushing, and being present in each experience. Let's traverse the Nile River, visit the vibrant Valley of the Kings, explore the Pyramids, and savor the unique beauty of Egypt. Sign up to spend your summer in a country dating to the time of the pharaohs, where you will expand your cultural knowledge, gain personal and professional breakthroughs, while establishing meaningful relationships with other teachers and forever friends!
