Discover a culture as old as time exploring the land of ancient mystery and modern adventure. Learn how to read hieroglyphs, sit on the steps of an Egyptian temple, explore a Cairo neighborhood, meet with a local teacher and hear them speak their beautiful languages (yes, more than one language is spoken in Egypt.)

In this program trip to Egypt, you'll also have a chance to meet with Muslims and Christians who will discuss with you hurtful and harmful generalizations by Westerners…. while exposing you to what it is like living in Egypt today.

Authentic cultural immersion, when done with people of the global majority (that’s us!) is a powerful way to learn about different cultures and what makes them unique. This program trip will give you an opportunity to see how one of the oldest civilizations in the world lives, learn about their culture, and experience what makes them who they are. Come learn and see firsthand how Egyptian history, culture and mystery are all around you, in your own country, today.

Our Nile cruise has uncovered hidden treasures and features stops at UNESCO World Heritage sites. This is a program trip like no other. You won’t want it to end.

With the help of our Thought Leaders, the Teach With Love culturally informed principles will be woven into our entire approach for the trip. Our vibe is to “seek knowledge that emerges through continuing, hopeful inquiry in the world, with the world, and with each other” (Paulo Freire) and be present in each experience where you will expand your cultural knowledge, make beautiful connections and return with a reconnection to L.O.V.E. being the foundation to having culturally informed teaching.

Itinerary

Day 1: March 23 - Overnight in Cairo

• Welcome to Cairo, Egypt where your breath is about to be taken away at first glance of the pyramids! 

• Arrive and our personal driver will take you to your hotel that has pyramid views, where you will leisurely meet your leaders and fellow teacher travelers. 

Day 2: March 24 - Overnight in Cairo

• Breakfast at Hotel, Welcome Orientation

• Visit Saqqara Pyramid and a carpet school, then the three pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx

• Dinner at your leisure at hotel, great time to call family

   

Day 3: March 25 - Overnight on Nile Luxury Cruise Ship

• Visit Philae temple

• Feluca and Motor Boat ride on Nile River to Nubian Village. Spending the day with our Nubian friends!

Day 4: March 26 - Overnight on Nile Luxury Ship

• Easy morning exploring Aswan with your new friends!

• Lunch on board and we set sail to and visit the Kôm Ombo Temple

Day 5: March 27 - Overnight on Nile Luxury Ship

• Disembark and visit one of the most well-preserved Edfu Temple

• Sailing to Luxor

• Visit the Luxor Temple by night where it is beautifully lit to show all the details of the hieroglyphics. See the 1.5 mile avenue of the Sphinxes

Day 6: March 28 - Overnight on Nile Luxury Ship

• Disembark and visit the historical Karnak Temple

• Optional additional side trip: Hot Air Balloon Ride (see add-ons)

• Optional Valley of the Kings

• Flight back to Cairo (included in package)

Day 7: March 29 - Overnight in Cairo

• Beautiful Day with our Egyptian Friends

• See the world’s largest Ancient History Museum. The newly built Grand Egyptian Museum

Day 8: March 30 - Overnight in Cairo

• Visit Mosques and Coptic Churches

• Picnic in the Park with local Egyptians

• Khan Khalili Bazaar

Day 9: March 31 - Departure Day

• Departures all arranged with a private driver.
