Peru: July 21-28, 2025

8 Days, 7 Nights of Learning in Cusco, Sacred Valley and Aguas Calientes!

In July of 2025, come learn with Teach With Love and a small group of educators and allies of education at our Peru International Education Program. Together, in this transformative experience, we will participate in, amplify, and uplift the diverse voices of the Peruvian people and the landscapes they inhabit. In this spirit of mutual respect and understanding, we will honor their indigenous wisdom, traditions, and the rich narratives they bestow upon us.

Peru is a colorful land known for textiles, ancient ruins, and incredible culture. We have been invited to experience authentic experiences in an indigenous Andes mountain community, rich in history and tradition, where we will learn firsthand about the traditional textile process. We will not be spectators, but learners as the indigenous Quechuan teachers will show us how they dye fabrics, their weaving process, and textile processes directly from the women and men who practice it, allowing the community to have control over their own narrative and traditions.

Under the umbrella of the L.O.V.E. framework, we celebrate and acknowledge their struggles, their successes, and their unique worldview. We engage, not as mere spectators, but as active learners, opening our hearts and minds to a new perspective of seeing, understanding, and appreciating the world.

In our shared journey, we’ll dedicate a day to honor the ancient Machu Picchu, a UNESCO world heritage site. This sacred Inca city, perched 2,430 m above sea level, amidst a tropical mountain forest, beckons us not as casual sightseers, but as humble learners, eager to resonate with its profound past. The exploration of these Inca ruins will not be a mere tourist venture, but a respectful communion with the footprints of the past. Our journey then leads us to the nearby Rainbow Mountain region, originally known as Vinicunca, nestled in the embrace of the Andes mountains. This natural canvas is renowned for its strikingly multi-colored beauty, a testament to Mother Earth's palette, with hues ranging from turquoise to lavender to gold.

Together, we engage in this exploration not as consumers of experiences but as active participants, fostering understanding and respect, honoring the voices and stories of the landscapes and cultures we are privileged to encounter.

Your Thought Leaders, Lorena Germán and Taína Benitez, are both fluent Spanish speaking advocates, speakers, and educators. Our entire approach for the program will incorporate Teach With Love's culturally informed principles, with guidance from our Thought Leaders. Our philosophy is centered around seeking knowledge through ongoing, hopeful inquiry with the world and each other, as proposed by Paulo Freire, the author of "Pedagogy of the Oppressed." Throughout the program, we aim to immerse ourselves in every experience, expand our cultural understanding, forge meaningful connections, and return home with a renewed commitment to using L.O.V.E. as the foundation for culturally informed teaching.

(The daily itinerary will be provided closer to the dates of the program, and will be dependent on weather)

What's included:

  • 100% of proceeds go to helping our (women and BIPOC owned) organization’s mission and Teach To Lead (TTL) program to elevate underserved educators by developing new leadership where none existed. We’re funded through sponsors and our immersive International Education Programs that serve ALL educators of all Races, Ethnicities, Genders, etc. (See our TWL mission for more info.)

  • For teachers, this is a revolutionary way of thinking about teaching in a classroom. Being immersed in a new culture and language provides a unique perspective, enhanced by our teacher framework. This structure helps you reflect on your experiences and integrate these values back into your classroom with students.

This approach is ideal, especially relevant in the current educational climate in the United States, where many educators struggle to remain in the profession. This rejuvenating experience will re-humanize learning for you, providing a deeper understanding of what it means to Lift Others' Voices Every day (L.O.V.E.). That's the essence of our framework.

You don't just learn a concept from a book; you live it out and practice it. During our program, there will be moments where we, as thought leaders, engaged participants with reflective questions: How do you see the application of the love framework in real-time?

This program is ideal for any location and is perfect for educators and leaders who want to remain in the field, offering not just a refreshing experience but also practical tools for classroom application.
